Arkansas Herpetological Society (AHS)

The Arkansas Herpetological Society (AHS) is a nonprofit organization that was reconstituted in 2004. The society works in conjunction with the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission and has the following goals:

  • Education
  • Educate the general public about native herpetofauna.
  • Conservation
  • Encourage conservation of all wildlife and herpetofauna in particular.
  • Research
  • Provide a means of communication and cooperation between professional herpetologists and amateur enthusiasts.
  • Assist various wildlife management areas, state parks, and similar organizations in conducting herpetological field surveys.
  • Broaden our understanding of the distribution and abundance of native herpetofauna through selective collection and/or documentation.

Membership

There is currently no formal membership (or associated membership dues) for AHS. We only ask that members register on the Forum so they can participate in discussions and catch announcements for the group.

Events

The AHS officially hosts 1 educational booth and 2 field trips (spring and fall) each year.
