Spent the weekend in northeast oklahoma, roughly 10 miles from the Arkansas border. Did a bunch of road cruising, checked out a few old barns and houses, a creek, some dirt roads, and a rocky glade area. I knew with the temps as high as they were that i wasn't going to find much, but I at least scouted out some potential places that i can check out during the fall and next spring. My list:

1 DOR coachwhip (busy road, no photo)
2 DOR Rat snakes no photo
1 DOR green snake no photo
1 AOR common snapping turtle
2 AOR Brown snakes
1 AOR unidentified water snake
1 DOR Pigmy Rattlesnake
1 Broadheaded skink no photo
TMTC 5 lines skink
2 Little brown skinks
1 Ringneck snake
1 Box turtle
2 Blotched Watersnakes (no photo)
1 Lined Snake

PHOTOS

Within an hour of arriving at my mom's, i found this supposed county record in her front yard.

Later that night, I found yet another small terrestrial snake (aside from my lined snake and smooth earth snake) seemed to be the only live snakes i've been able to photograph yet.

After that, we made the trip out further east in oklahoma, where i checked out the house and 1st barn. Found nothing amongst all that debris but a ringneck snake. That night, i roadcruised another brown snake. So, the next morning we got up early to check out some bluffs. On the way, we found this... just as a side note, i was told to cruise this road the night before, but i decided to stick to dirt roads for some reason, now i'm regretting that.

After i spotted it, it took a second for the driver to stop, and further up the road we saw this.

Its shell was cracked, it had a pirate eye, and some pus or liquid coming out of its neck. If i could have, i would have taken it in and tried to nurse it back to health... but i don't know that much about it, and resources just wouldn't allow it. Another thing, when it was approached, it would just rise up on its hind legs.

We reached the bluffs soon after that, but they were so overgrown with tall weeds, i didn't want to work my way through them, so we continued. all the bluffs faced south/southwest. I found another hillside facing south/southwest and decided to go check it out, here are a few scenic photos i took while searching the area.

On the way back, we checked out barn #2, its a miracle this thing is still standing, but aside from some very large wasp nests, there was nothing there.

Now, what in the world is this?

And this?

Here is a crayfish in the stream where i found 2 blotched watersnakes... possibly some graham's crayfish snakes around there? i hope so, hittin that place up again tomorrow.

And some pictures of flowers, really just testing out my new camera.
