Topic: Road Cruising Saturday night

Well, finally things seem to be 'heading back towards' normal...thus far roadcruising has been abysmal this year...but saturday night, Ben and Kelly made it over to visit and we went roadcruising.
We found: 
20 + copperheads (after about 12, they all just blur together...but there were a BUNCH out on the road...most in the 24" size or smaller)
2 nice size milk snakes
1 speckled king
1 black rat (on the road, about 1130 pm?)

At least there was some diversity and animals out...we havent found that many in all my roadcruising efforts so far combined for this summer!
One weird thing this time...some fog blew in...and you could literally see about 25 ft in front of  you...never roadcruised in HEAVY fog before.

My eyes have just about stopped hurting from all the squinting and concentrating on the road through the fog ...... it was different, for sure. Kept expecting a "thump, thump" from under the car that would signal the running over of a large timer .....

Finding that first milk snake in the fog, in the middle of the opposite lane, right after seeing one of the only three other vehicles of the night AND knowing it had to have straddled the little guy perfectly was awesome. The fact that Kelly held it and it did not bite her was a plus, too  lol   The second milk made up for it with it's bizzare "strike constantly, everywhere" behavior. Not to mention the foul dose of poo it gifted me with  sad

All in all, a successful and enjoyable night.

Ben, great to hear that your trip was a success. After how poor we had done on my two trips, I was a tad bit worried. I sure hope Brad made you listen to O&A or Playboy radio. Those are the XM stations he allways makes me listen to.  wink

Ha HA yea the fact that you told me that they are not likely to bite was a plus to getr me to hold it.... tongue  I think I am coming around to holding wild snake and I enjoyed it, if it would have bitten me I think I would have survived....
