Topic: Snake database

This is the link to the Orianne Society webpage.  I am familiar with the Orianne Society and it is a legitimate organization dedicated to conservation, especially for the eastern indigo snake.  I think folks on this forum could really help develop this database.  Jo-Ann

Re: Snake database

Just asking, but what does this database offer that NAFHA doesn't?  I know some here contribute to the NAFHA database, which is already a well-established and respected citizen-science project.

The records from NAFHA are likely to be included in some way in the AR herp atlas in the future, so I would hope that more people would report more findings to it.  (And for somewhat selfish reasons, I hope not to have to sort out more duplicate records from multiple competing databases.  I've already done a fair bit of this and it is a major pain.)

Re: Snake database

I apologize for my ignorance of the NAFHA database.  I keep spreadsheeet records on herps I see  and just thought a more widespread database is a great idea.  How do we access NAFHA?  Jo-Ann

Re: Snake database

Just go to NAFHA.com, join, and start contributing. There was over 30,000 individual vouchered herp records throughout North American in 2011. It's the largest active, public herp database there is. It's free to join and start contributing.
