Topic: new girlfriend for my north mexican pine
I just picked up this hatchling female north mexican pine (Pituophis deppei jani) from Matt Turner at Selective Origins. Matt was very helpful- check out his website to see what the parents of this girl look like.

She's already developed a significant amount of yellow on the head and neck. This should turn to bright orange as she matures. Her overall yellowish-olive color suggests that she will be high-orange or high-yellow as an adult.

Closeup of the head- very vibrant reflections!
Here's the male at the same age, from my friend Chris Raden. His adults are Steve Garrett stock. The grandparents (and parents, I assume) of this snake are absolutely stunning.

He had a little more color development in this photo, but I think he was a month or two older also.

Now, at one year old, he's already developed much of the bright orange head of a nice jani. I think his background color is going to remain silverish, but could go orange instead.
Just wait to see this pair in about 3-4 years! Its a waiting game...
