Topic: Past couple of weeks plus AHS pictures
Well if it is not that obvious, I will come out and say it. I have been dodging the ole dissertation for a more fun lifestyle, herping. So these a few pictures I have taken over the past couple of weeks.
I did some road cruising through the ONF a week ago Tuesday. Saw three copperheads, this was the cute young one.
The next day I did a little road cruising, no luck. I did stop a few times and flip some flat rocks. Turned a couple of ringnecks and this perfect size for pictures racer.

Well here are some of my pictures from the meeting. If you notice I hate people. As you see have no people in any of my photos. Na I just like the animals that much. If you want me to upload any of these pictures just let me know.
Best find for me:

And a parting shot of a Monarch:

As mentioned plenty of times before Van and I got some rings crossing the road:

I returned to the spot were we observed 3 large coachwhip sheds. This is important to me because my Arkansas target at this moment is a large dark phase adult coachwhip. All I have found is juvies. We have just had over 4" of rain, and the sun came out and warmed it up this afternoon. I thought said coachwhip would be out enjoying the sun. I was wrong. You should of seen the water comming overthe spillway. On the way I saw:
1 DOR Eastern Garter
1 AOR Three-toed box turtle
At the site:
Fence Lizard
Prairie Racerunner
Ground Skink
On the return:
1 AOR/DOR Copperhead (I have it, but hit was a fresh hit and broke the mandible)
I went into my usual road cruising mode. I found it odd that along the roads I heard choruses of Spring Peepers that rival the spring chorus. I decided to check one of these out, with the hopes of some Ambystomatid reproduction. No reproduction, but did catch the peepers in action. One was even calling on the road.

What got my attention was a couple of water snakes (erythrogaster). I saw at least three in the ditch. Got pictures of two.

I found this very interesting and desired a picture of the two I caught together. The problem I did not noticed the condition the juvie was in. Well Just follow the series, and see that I found out what the juvie had for dinner.

Well I did get my picture of the two together.

I continued to road cruise and investigate peepers calling, but never got any sallie reproduction in the ditches. If this was spotted time I would have figured some repro action in the ditches. I did find two more AOR copperheads, but I have seen so many this year I did not take any pictures. I just helped them off the road.
I did observe this crazy mammal back at my appartment. It shot up the side of the building (thought it was a cat at first). It sat up there and looked like a gargoyle.
