Topic: Sirens
Last Friday our Natural History of the Vertebrates class went out to see what we could find. We started with a small pond to look for Ambystoma talpoideum. We found 8 Mole salamanders and several S. Leopard frog tadpoles. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of these.
Then we headed out to one of the other grad students sites to check his Siren traps.
Here is an aquarium full of our catch. We ended up with a total of 27.

Here are some closeups of some of them. Sorry for the crappy pics. A big glob of algae fell into the aquarium and made a mess out of the water. Oh and in case yall don't know, Sirens really don't like to sit still for photos.

Here is the ditch. Notice the remains of the tornado damage in the background? This town had some major destruction last April.
This is a close up of where all the traps are set. At one time there was a large green dumpster in the middle of this.
And here is Jacob (the researcher) releasing one bucket full. I told him that if I could post pics of his animals, I would put him on the internet.
