Topic: Spring Rains

Some pretty good rain is moving through the Rogers/Springdale area right now.  If it continues, it should be a good night for amphibs.  Maybe I can make it out for a bit later tonight.  I'll report back if I find anything of interest.

Re: Spring Rains

It rained pretty good at my house this morning around 5:00 am.  (The same storm cell that passed through NW AR later this morning)  I was planning on going out tonight myself and looking for frogs.  I keep hearing crawfish frogs, but they are proving rather difficult to find.

They are out in your neck of the woods. What have your temps been like over the course of you hearing them?

Kory, Sounds like we have to go out. It looks like some clearing in behind, but they say more rain on the way. I hope the temps stay up with the cloud cover.

I heard them calling the most when the temps were down into the fifties (I'm not sure of the actual temperature, but it was cold enough to wear a jacket and I could see my breath).  I started hearing them about two weeks ago.  The western and Strecker's chorus frogs, and southern and plains leopard frogs have also been insane the past couple of weeks.
