Topic: Not for the easily squeamish, kinda OT....
Got my cast off last week and decided to show everyone why my herping plans are delayed for a few months:

Therapy is coming along well and doc says I should be out in the woods in May or June.

Got pretty good color to your lower leg. At least it isn't chalky white.
awww van I hope you're back on your feet soon... The herp trip is in may, but you could still go and hang out.. you could keep me company back at camp
Ouch! What did you do, Van? I didn't realize you had surgery!
OUCHY!!
Hope you feel much better! Always feels good to get those nasty casts off!
I think you should give me your camera.

Thanks for the sympathy everyone. I should be back up and about by May, I just might not be able to do any serious hill climbing for a little bit longer.
I broke my ankle by slipping on ice back in January. My left foot slipped and forward momentum torqued my body around the axis of my right leg. This basically caused the lower leg to rotate around the foot, breaking the fibula and breaking a piece off of the tibia. Given the circumstances, I'm lucky that rotation occurred at the ankle the way it did because no tendons/ligaments were damaged- only bone. If it had been my knee, I'd probably have severe ligament damage and have trouble forever. This way, it should heal up just fine.

PS and you can have my camera when you pry it from my cold dead fingers
