Topic: NE Oklahoma for spring break
Came home to NE Oklahoma for spring break and decided to hit some of my hotspots with a few targets in mind. My first stop has turned up some great stuff in the past including 2 E. coachwhips that were over 6 feet long. During the first hour or so all we turned up was a single prairie ringneck. I began to get a little concerned after flipping my large tin site.
Here are a few habitat shots before the first good find of the trip.

Nice looking rock?
We were excited to find this little guy under the nice looking rock. This was target number 1.

E. Coachwhip
After a little while, we made it to another place along the road that I like to check out. Here is the main rock pile.
First was a young 5-lined skink
Next was a prairie ringneck that was more than happy to display. It completely flipped over to show its belly. Then it proceeded to do the more â??normalâ? tail display.

One or two rocks later revealed this beauty who proceeded to use its tail to distract me.

After seeing a bloched water snake cross the road, we stopped along a ditch to see what was around. Here is the ditch.
We never caught the large Nerodia, but here is a young one that was in the ditch.

And what would a ditch be without your usual cricket frogs?
The rest is on NE Oklahoma part 2
Copan, OK
