Topic: NE Oklahoma part 2
At the second hotspot we found only 2 species of snakes, ringnecks and speckle kings. These are the most often found snakes at this particular spot.
First was a young speckled kingsnake (target #2) that likes to do impressions.
Rubber boa?
Cottonmouth?

Next was prairie ringnecks. I flipped one small bit of cover to find them scattering. In this pic you can only make out 4 or 5 of the 8 or more that scattered.
Here is the runt of the group
On to hotspot and target number 3
This location I found about 2 years ago. I heard N. crawfish frogs calling and went running. Without much effort I found a few. Well this year I headed back hoping that they would be calling. I was over 100 yards from the pond and knew that it was a good year. The chorus was much larger than last time.
First was a bullfrog
Next we approached the target chorus to get these shots.

There were a few egg masses, I assume from the crawfish frogs.
Leopard frogs were very abundant too
As well as chorus frogs
Altogether it was a great couple of days. I hope to get some good stuff tonight too because we just got a huge rain.
