Topic: Gen Ecology Outing
I like to tag along with our General Ecology Class at the U of A. This trip is referred to has the cave trip, but it is a terrestrial ecology tirp with an emphasis on herps. I have a certain fear that they may find a venomous snake and have no way of handling it, and of course I just use this as an excuse to get out. I did not take any pictues, yet.
This is just a little species list. A few of these animals were collected for use in a thing called Springfest that is down on Dickson Street in Fayetteville.
Frogs: Cricket TNTC, Southern Leopard 3-4, American Toad, Spring Peeper (in cave)
Salamanders: Cave 3 (in cave), Western Slimy (in cave), Longtail 3-4 in cave, 2 out of cave, one eft Central Newt
Turtles: 2 Three Toed Box Turtle
Lizards: 2 Ground Skinks, 6-8 Five-lined Skinks. No Fence Lizards a bit of a surpries
Snakes: 2 Ringnecks, 1 Redbelly, 10+ Worms, and a Red Milk
One very LARGE Texas Brown Tarantula
It is always good to get some of these young kids out to see some of what I like. Not a bad day, but kind of an odd day. It is almost like spring started over. ![]()
