Topic: Van Buren/Searcy county

Well, with a whole 5 hrs of 'free time', I met up with Glen, AKA 'copperheadman' to hit some tin spots I been eyeballing near my in-laws.  Now glen has the actual numbers, but I can give a pretty good synopsis-
found about a dozen ringnecks- normally this is a 'who cares' but i flipped one rock with EIGHT snakes under it.  And no, the camera was in the truck.  It needs a card or something.
Several lizards- five lined skinks, prairie race runner, fence lizard
Salamanders- a nice western slimy and a cute marbled sally
the find of the day was a large gravid female great plains rat.  I got pictures that'll be posted by the end of the week.
Also, some nerodia and enough cricket frogs to fill a bucket.

Now granted, it could have been better...but I've been out for far longer and found far less.  All in all, a good day.

Re: Van Buren/Searcy county

I went out again sunday-
Glen, i found another hellacious tin site. Old abandon house...apparently the owner used to collect 4x8 sheets of plywood, car hoods and roofing tin.  Found a huge gravid female speckled king, some rings/worms and a large coachwhip shed.  We'll be checking it again! It was literally too much stuff to flip for one person in the amount of time I had.

All in all a good weekend of herping, since they are so few and far between these days!
