Re: weekend critters

Accourding to Connant and Collins it looks like you should have Yellowbelly. I see on the map that there is an area of integradation along the coast of LA. Two major problems. One, we are dealing with a subspecies, and some of them are not that easy to tell apart. Second, juvies carry a very similar pattern in both subspecies. It looks more like a Yellowbelly to me.

Re: weekend critters

Some of us aren't too particularly fond of spiders, others enjoy learning about them... Ryan, apparently- gets freaked out just by a photo! Please do share your finds though, it doesnt matter if they are birds, bugs or flowers- if you find them interesting when herping, we like to see them too. Sometimes we find no snakes- but if we can find beauty in the landscape and other wildlife, it makes the trip fun just the same.

Re: weekend critters

yikes

Ya know...  As bizarre as it feels given my history of work with potentially dangerous critters, I've never been comfortable with spiders.  Tarantulas I'm cool with, though.  Go figure.
