Topic: Box Turtle Rescue Unit

Ok, I started this thing called the Box Turtle Rescue Unit about 5 years ago and it was kind of popular with locals I knew from another message board for about 2 years and then kind of fell off, but I always keep the BTRU alive. Anyway, I was on the way home from out of town today and decided to take the back route home and see more than buildings, construction, and cars. I saw atleast 7-8 boxies crossing the road and was able to help most of them to the other side. I also unfortunately saw I believe 4 DOR. Also I saw a black rat snake DOR that was about 2 1/2 feet. But, it was nice to see more herps alive on the road than dead for once. Sorry there aren't any pics, but it was kind of an unexpected mission for the BTRU. Thanks for your time everybody.

Yeah...I've become almost neurotic about driving right after the sun sets..afraid I'm going to run over a snake.  We have tons of red eared sliders around here....I try to stop to get them to the other side of the highway.  Today I was running late to my daughter's field trip..and saw a big slider on the side of the road, I wanted to stop but knew I was running low on time...and **** if it wasn't run over when I drove home.  grrrr.

Yeah, I hit some roads today off around Des Arc for a couple of hours and unfortunately saw a DOR slider, and a snake that I really couldn't ID considering how fast it was going down a little hill leading up the edge of the road and off into some water. It looked like a racer with the body shape color, and the way it moved, but I may be wrong. I also saw a DOR sub-adult black rat. And 2 days ago, I saw a DOR sub-adult black rat on some Searcy back roads.
