Topic: More copperhead fun

There is a copperhead (or at least part of one) plainly visible in this photo, see if you can find it.  The snake was not disturbed prior to the photo, and you can see I had to dig some to find it as it was...  This snake was completely hidden when I came up on it.  I've already lucked into finding 2 out in the open this year while radio tracking this individual, but who knows how many I've walked over/stepped on in the process???  The second photo is the hillside this snake was on, and as you can tell they could be literally anywhere.

Re: More copperhead fun

WOW! Really if they aren't just in the road, I'd miss it for sure.  They don't exactly "stick out" when they are in the leaves, do they?! smile
How's the tracking going, btw?

I'm about to have an abruptly.

Re: More copperhead fun

Yup, that's a copperhead (or at least part of it is visible).  They're hard enough to find when they're not under/in the leaves.  If I get time I'll try to post the video of it soon.

I posted this here before, but if you enjoyed the picture, you might enjoy seeing a video of one on top of the leaves.

Re: More copperhead fun

Not sure if it was stretched out or coiled, but I tried to outline how I visualize it. From my perspective, the part visible appears to be somewhere mid-body and only one part of one of the "saddles" is visible.
