Topic: FINALLY!! First Timber!
Mark and I were biking on Mt. Nebo a couple days ago, and as we were making the final round on the northern side of the "mountain," Mark nearly hit his beauty. We've only seen one other live timber here in AR, and that was with the big group on Magazine a few years ago. I know, sad isn't it? We just have the most terrible luck finding Crotes in the field. Anyway, this little guy or gal (I'm thinking gal based on tail length but am not sure) was just lying across the path seemingly without a care in the world. This kind of behavior explains why so many rednecks find these snakes so easy to dispatch and brag later about how 'in danger' they were while they were doing the world a favor. It only rattled for a second or two and that was after I tried to maneuver it into a better position for pictures. Enjoy.
And for a bit of scale (no pun intended).
