Topic: PM question

I received this message twice today when trying to send a private message.

"Unable to confirm security token. A likely cause for this is that some time passed between when you first entered the page and when you submitted a form or clicked a link. If that is the case and you would like to continue with your action, please click the Confirm button. Otherwise, you should click the Cancel button to return to where you were."

I do not think I took an excessive amount of time. Would be possible to extend the amount of time that one has to type a PM? Otherwise I guess I should type the PM in a WP and then cut and paste.

Re: PM question

the same thing happened to me a few times, I just thought the session timed out on this new format. Its irritating and at first I thought I'd lost my entire composition but it seems to just be a confirmation that you're still there and not automated. There may be a setting for it, I dont know if I can look into it, but Kory is out of town for another few days. .. he can look into it when he returns. Thanks though, I thought it was something I was doing wrong.

I get these fairly often and it is definitely an annoyance with the new forum program.  I've put it on the to-do list to investigate what is going on.  I know it deals with forum "security" to prevent abuse/spamming, blah blah blah...it still doesn't seem to work like it's intended.  Generally, there is little harm done and clicking OK on the screen solves it.

I've doubled the timeout from 300 to 600 seconds.  How much time do you think is reasonable?  Also, it's possible the setting I changed is the wrong one...so let me know if the issue continues.

This is definitely a good option if you are going to spend an extended period on a single page.  If you do run into a timeout issue, using your BROWSER'S back button should allow you to salvage what you wrote (copy your text, then log back in, then paste into a new message).

Re: PM question

happened again in PMS this morning Kory, so I dont think the up to 600 seconds helped... but then I didnt exactly time myself either.

Re: PM question

Set to 1200 seconds.  If it continues, I'll assume I'm adjusting the wrong setting and will dig deeper.
