Topic: Bad night for cruising with a surprise

I took Dave, the church intern who is living with us road cruising last night and I spotted something walking in the tall grass next to the road on the passenger side of the car.
It wasn't real big so from a distance I thought it was a coyote or fox or something but when we got up too it I could see that it was a big cat.
By the time I stopped we were 50 ft. past it. I lost sight of it. Dave said it had started to come out on to the road but bolted when we stopped. We both got out and tried to find it with a spot light but never saw it again.
Unfortunately neither of us got to see it's tail which would've told us for sure if it was a lion or a bobcat.
I am 95% sure it was a young lion because the color was uniformly tan without spots but I can't say for certain.

Snakes were few and far between and traffic was higher than normal.

3 copper heads, 1 AOR, 1 DOR and one soon to be DOR

1 DOR green snake

1 DOR timber around 4' and heavy. Maybe gravid. Sadly she was not on the road on our first pass or she would still be alive. She was almost across the road when hit,  her head and 1/4 of her body were in the grass!

Ever wonder why conservatives are called the right and liberals are called the left?

Don't really recall the ears but i've been looking at pics of cougars and bobcats and judging by the face i'm saying lion. Still wish I would've seen the tail.
