Re: any ideas for herp spots??

I doubt you will find this group willing to give up spots to a person they do not know. If you do not know this, herpers are very protective of their animals and spots. We never know some random strangers intentions. You just committed one the biggest sins on a herping webforum, you asked for spots before introducing yourself. You should start over. Show us who you are and what is your herping past.

At this point all I can say is good luck.

Re: any ideas for herp spots??

im sorry, yes i know how protective people are of spots. Im not looking for any specific spots just ideas. My name is Nick Padgett, im 17 and ive been herping all my life. My intentions are simple, I am working to become a herpetologist or venom researcher. I document all my finds on film, and record as much data as i possibly can. If you would like to see some of my herp pics just let me know.

Nice to meet you Nick...and ditto what glenn says, but - relatively speaking- the 'daytime herping' part of the summer is pretty much at its end.  temps get too hot and drive most snakes under ground or where it is cool.  Your best results now will probably confined to roadcruising.  Head out into the country...ideally a paved road that cuts through a section of forrest or undeveloped land.  Drive from around dusk till midnnight. You'll find some snakes.  Good luck, be safe and by all means, post your pics.

cheers.

Finds should be posted in the field plans and reports subforum (http://www.herpsofarkansas.com/forum/fo … d-reports/). Typing out a report can be done however you see fit. Pictures are another issue. hmm  Pictures can be attached, but it does get messy when trying to tell a story and you have a lot of pics. The other option is to have your pictures hosted on a phothosting website. There are many free ones like picassa, flikr and photobucket. There are even more and pay ones too. I use both Flikr and photobucket. You can then just copy the image (img) code into the body of your post. We will be more than happy to help you out at any bumps.

Also another good way of cracking this group is to come to a field trip. We are easily impressed.

Another option is to upload directly to the species accounts.  Browse to the species account page with the species you have photographed.  You'll have to first select "Edit" from the upper right-hand menu.  Log in using your forum username and password.  The same menu will then grant you an "Upload" option, which will allow you to add your pictures.  Prior to uploading, please tag your images with embedded IPTC data.  Search for XnView for a freeware imaging program that will allow you to do this.  At a minimum, you should credit the picture properly.  Also, there is a size limit, but I can never quite remember what it is.  HA!  Just keep each pic under 1MB and you'll for sure be good to go.
