Topic: Small town Saturday night

Kimberly (AKA littlepapoose) and I went out to eat at the local truck stop (yee-haw!) and then deceided to do some road cruising/spot lighting. Here is what we saw/heard:

Clark co.:

TMTC Gray treefrogs
TMTC Bird-voiced treefrogs
TMTC Fowler's toads
TMTC Springs peppers
TMTC Cajun chorus frogs
3 Green treefrogs
2 Leopard frogs
1 Cottonmouth

Non-herps:

TMTC White-tailed-deer
1 Armadillo
1 Bowfin
1 Spotted gar

Nevada co.:

TMTC Gray treefrogs
1 Unidentified watersnake
1 Rough green snake

All of the bird-voiced treefrogs were calling from buttonbush in deep (3+ feet of water). After several attemps at walking onto a log to catch a bird-voiced, I had enough of log rolling and decieded to give up. I kept the green snake, and I am happy to report that Kim and Kasidy (my 4 year old) both held it. Rough greens make such good pets. It was a fun night, and I am happy to report that miss Kim is quite a herper. I may have to keep her and the snake around for a while.   lol

Nice, Tobin! Sounds pretty productive. Bird voiced and Green treefrogs are still lifers for me.

I bet we can knock the green treefrog off at the spring trip easily.

Re: Small town Saturday night

I almost forgot! When we got back to my house, we were talking on the front porch and I heard what I thought was a Pickerel frog from my yard pond. I thought, "no way". But sure enough, a while later I caught him and confirmed it.
