Topic: Road cruising the national forest

In between last week I did a little daytime road cruising in the Ouachita national forest and came across a Hognose. My first in Arkansas. The following links are to two photos of the Hognose on my flickr stream:

The next day I came a cross a Common snapping turtle on the edge of the road about twenty feet or so from a little creek. His shell measured 8" front to back and approx 7" side to side:

Three days later turned up this Eastern Racer:

Also seen but not photographed:

A nice healthy looking large Rat snake and an equally fat and healthy looking Garter snake.

Nice finds and pics, Rex.  Amazing how many Hogs I've seen and still this one looks just a little different than any others.
