Re: Random Spring finds. Herps and a few birds.

my gut reaction to your un-id'd snake is  Nerodia clarkii, but I aint 100%...could be some sort of hybrid i guess...Nice pics and report.

Nice ones!

Was the Ringed found this spring?  Nice find regardless, but a little more unusual to turn up this time of year.

Bird #4 looks like an American Coot.  #1 = "Gull".  #2 = "Egret".  #3 = "Snipe" or "Shorebird".  #5 = ?.  That's about as far as I get without help.  I usually end up at WhatBird.com for my bird IDing needs.

Productive spring!  I agree with the clarkii ID- the belly pattern is pretty classic for that species.  However, they do hybridize with fasciata throughout their range, so there may be something "extra" there.

Re: Random Spring finds. Herps and a few birds.

My guesses on the birds:
1.  Laughing Gull (mature adult)
2.  Snowy Egret
3.  Willet? (shorebirds are really tough for me)
4.  American Coot
5.  Common Moorhen
