Topic: Western Diamondback

Today I was cleaning out a rubbish pile on the property and came across a diamondback about 2-21/2 feet long. Much to my wife's concern I decided to take the advice from members here on the forum and to catch it and then release it somewhere away from the property. So I managed to get it in a 30 gallon plastic trash can and went about my work. I checked on the snake several times and he was fine, although not a bit pleased with his captivity. When I came back to take him off somewhere the trashcan was empty. Now I have a rattlesnake somewhere near the house. Even worse my wife is madder than the snake was. I think she'll be mad for many days to come.  yikes
We shall have to be extremely careful with every step we take outside now until it shows up as it could be in the tool shed, the wellhouse, under the house, in the dog pen, or just about anywhere we might step. I think the wisest decision would have been to kill the snake while I had the chance.

Re: Western Diamondback

Where are you located?  feel free to send me the msg in a PM if you want...
Some of us are obsessed with diamondbacks...very curious about your encounter.

On another note...I did the same thing with a cottonmouth in my garage...plastic trashcan with just enough 'ribs' inside it that the snake apparently was able to climb out.  Never saw it again, and that was IN my garage.  I bet your d'back is history too.  IF you do see it again, please dont kill it. Shoot me a pm!
