While checking one of the trails yesterday I saw a turtle basking on a log in the pond and a water snake swimming across the pond.  The snake was at the middle of the pond and moving quickly.  The size of the individual reminded me of a picture I had taken a couple of years ago in a mixed forest adjacent to the pond.  I suspect it is the same individual.  We had a group here in March that reported a very large water snake.  More fun during daily work!  Jo-Ann
