Topic: Do you think this pig might be gravid?

This little gem was turned up on 6-29 while road cruising at night.  Not only is she gravid, she took a brown snake immediately!

Looks gravid to me! How big is it? All I ever find are small ones 8-15" Would love to find a big fat 2 footer!

She's not a large animal, probably about average size.  My guess is that the litter will be five or less.  We'll see.

There was a LOT of skink activity at an abandoned house construction site...including a few uncovered egg clutches.

When these were uncovered, only one brooding female darted away, which brings up some interesting questions.  I'm curious what others may know of brooding strategies in skinks.  For example, if a second female lays a clutch near an established nest, does she just take off to do other things knowing the nest will be watched by the other female?

Checking out some rock formations prior to roadcruising.

I think this was the three-snake night...Ring-necked Snake, Pyg (pictured), and anyone doing roadcruising this time of year pretty well ought to guess the third.
