WASHINGTON — Meat giant Cargill is recalling 36 million pounds of turkey after a government hunt for the source of a salmonella outbreak that has killed one person in California and sickened dozens more.

The Agriculture Department and the Minnesota-based company announced Wednesday evening that Cargill is recalling fresh and frozen ground turkey products produced at the company’s Springdale, Ark., plant from Feb. 20 through Aug. 2 due to possible contamination from the strain of salmonella linked to 76 illnesses and the one death.

I'm about to have an abruptly.

Some of this was sold at Walmart with the label Honeysuckle White, f.y.i., & has the code P-963.  They did say the contamination is rendered harmless if cooked thoroughly enough, but you can also return it where you bought it.

My wife and I have had 2 or 3 packages of the honeysuckle white over the last week and a half alone. Always cook your poultry to the proper temperature, recall or not, and you will be fine.

I would have gladly bought and frozen the stuff they threw away sad Had to pay 4 freaking dollars for ground beef today, i'm too poor for that.
