Topic: Pygmy Surprise!

Well, I learned 2 things about the pyg I picked up earlier this spring...   big_smile  ...or is it  sad  ?

May God have mercy on my soul trying to get these things feeding!  HA!  I think they are going to be too small for adult cricket frogs, so...I hope they like frog legs.   neutral

Oh ya!!!  That's awesome.  Mine should drop any second.  She looks like she's about to burst.

big_smile Sweeet!!
I still have another male (complete with a rattle) for you.   Was that the "rattle-less" one?  I know where  to get a TON of tiny frogs if you need them, let me know!

I'm about to have an abruptly.

Re: Pygmy Surprise!

Both of my pygs are "fluffy" but I don't think they are gravid?   My little "arboreal" pygmy is eating hoppers now.

I'm about to have an abruptly.

Re: Pygmy Surprise!

AWESOME!   Hope you have better luck than that last batch-  btw, mine is still alive and doing fine. We moved up to small hoppers this summer...he's gettin close to 10" or so...but eats like a champ.  He's a lot prettier than the one Glenn gave me from south AR...these NW AR ones seem to have a much more pronounced rusty stripe down their back.   Cool stuff!

Re: Pygmy Surprise!

Brad, mine would also be alive if not for a batch of bad feeders.   He was a little hard at first, oddly he took feeder fish after all efforts with frogs/rodents failed.  Even tried skinks.  He ate feeder fish a couple of times, and then we tried F/T pinks and he took them fine.  Had him about a year before I had the run in with tainted feeders and lost several snakes.

I'm about to have an abruptly.

Yeah, they can be a challenge to get going, for sure.

That's nice to know.  It's about how old now?

Yep, I agree.  This one is also from S. Arkansas and is more drab.  I picked it up this spring because I needed a replacement pyg for my programs.  (I have obviously not always had the best of luck with them for some unknown reason.)

Little did I know we'd stumble across some new roads in NW AR later on and start turning up pygs in bunches.  But, of course, I had to have one of these, too, because they are a lot prettier in my opinion.
