Topic: November 2011 Year of the Turtle Newsletter and Calendar are now ready
The November 2011 Year of the Turtle Newsletter and Calendar are now ready!
This month we feature turtle health concerns and some of the efforts to better understand these diseases. We also have a story about a young 8th grade girl who is doing her part for turtle conservation, more citizen science opportunities, more educational materials, and more about the efforts of our turtle conservation partners.View or download our November Year of the Turtle Newsletter! In this November Year of the Turtle News issue, we provide some information on diseases from which turtles can suffer and how to see the signs of these diseases. We tell you about the efforts of Molly Paul, an eighth grader who started a turtle adoption program in North Carolina! One of our turtle experts, Dr. Peter Paul Van Dijk, answers a question that one of YOU sent in, and we’ve interviewed Dr. Van Dijk as well. We provide information about additional citizen science (volunteer) opportunities in Florida and in Kenya, and we highlight turtle conservation efforts in Missouri and Baja California. If that wasn’t enough, we’ve also got some links to more educational materials. Enjoy!
Singled Out in a Lineup: Our November Calendar and Photo are Now Available!
One of these things is not like the others... can you find the Big Bend Slider among the Western Painted Turtles in this basking lineup? Congratulations to James Stuart, who snapped this photo on a spring day in New Mexico. James’ photo was chosen as the November featured photo out of over FIVE HUNDRED (500) photos received since our contest began. It’s not too late to submit for the December Year of the Turtle Calendar Photo Contest! All submitted photos will continue to be considered for future calendar months, as well as for use (with photo credit) in other YoT products and related documents.
