Topic: Tres Moles (graphic DOR)

Sorry for the ridiculously low quality cellphone pics; didn't really have time to prep my gear.

With some good rain and warmer temps moving through, I got out for a couple of hours last night to see what I could find.

I spent over an hour at the lone Tiger Salamander site I knew about, but struck out...  It is a locality I've feared may not produce into the future due to housing developments, so I've been looking this winter to scout some other spots.

In transit to a new area I had hopes of producing, I came across a DOR...Tiger!  Having confirmed the (unexpected) new locality, I decided to just drive on.

Less than 2 miles on...a fat (most likely gravid) Ringed!  I figured they would have all bred by now, but I guess this one decided to be fashionably late to the party.

Another mile or so...a Spotted!

All 3 found within about a 5 mile stretch.

As I worked my way back home, I was thinking all I needed was a Small-mouthed to complete the county set.  So, when I saw the next sallie, my heart skipped a beat...  But, alas, just a slimy.

Nice ...
Reagan wanted to go out last night... he said 'i'll bet we could find some salamanders out tonight!' due to the heavy rains - you just confirmed it.
stinks about the tiger, but like you say...at least there are other locales yet discovered.

Awesome. I haven't been out at all in the rains.

Me either, Mike. We have finally gotten some good rain in south Arkansas. All the ponds are full and wetlands can be called wetlands again.
