Topic: Adult Timor Monitor

I still have this adult blue spot Timor monitor available. I am not sure if it's male or female but the person I got it from suggested it was female. It's feisty but doesn't bite, poop, or tail whip. It's currently around 1.5-2' in length and eats f/t small mice or crickets.

I'm asking only $125 for him/her and may consider some trades. E-mail me at najak82@hotmail.com or call 479-477-0434.

I also have some adult crested geckos and adult Brazilian rainbows available.

How much are you asking for the crested geckos?

Re: Adult Timor Monitor

Here are a couple of pictures of the Timor from last year. I can take some current ones this evening.

As for the cresteds: I currently have 4 adult males and 3 adult females available. They're all sexually mature and the females are just about a year in age and are already proven egg layers (though not by me). This is a great opportunity to snag a nice breeding group. I'm asking $100 each on the males, $150 each on the females. As a group that would be $850, but if you wanted all of them it would be only $500. To get them for $500 though you would need to buy the entire group. Once someone buys just one of them, the group price goes out the window. So act fast! cool

Looking forward to a couple current pics.

Re: Adult Timor Monitor

I apologize for not getting any pictures of him/her last night. It completely slipped my mind after a long day of teaching - imagine that. I will do my best to take pictures this evening and add them to this thread.

Re: Adult Timor Monitor

Here he/she is. Pictures taken with an iPhone and probably make her look a little smaller than she actually is.

Re: Adult Timor Monitor

You don't house her in that rack, do you?

Humanity: The root of all problems.

Re: Adult Timor Monitor

Actually yes, hence the reason I'm trying to move her. I was given a large redfoot tort and he needed the cage she was formerly inhabiting.

Re: Adult Timor Monitor

No way to provide her with UVA/UVB light?

Humanity: The root of all problems.

Re: Adult Timor Monitor

Monitors don't need UVA/UVB. They're carnivores, thus they obtain all the D3 they need from their prey. There is some argument that it may improve color or temperament or whatever, but it certainly isn't required for proper bone metabolism.

Re: Adult Timor Monitor

Very true. I just like the idea of helping with D3 synthesis by providing UVB. I know that many people raise and breed them successfully with out the UVB lighting...I guess I just like idea of allowing them access to it.
Clearly she is doing fine. No discernible signs on MBD or anything. I just wanted to see your position on the subject.

Re: Adult Timor Monitor

Well her currently situation is far from ideal and the reason I'm trying to rehome her. I would prefer to have her in an enclosure with a hot spot around 110-115F, with soil to dig and branches to climb. I had that, but then arrived the rather large and rather cumbersome tortoise....hah. For a timor she's really not bad, so I'm betting she'll make a nice display animal for someone. Timors and ackies are great monitors because they provide all the personality of the big guys without the risk of loosing a finger or having to transform a spare bedroom into an enclosure.

If anyone is interested in trades, I would be happy to trade her for a breedable set of leopard geckos, a female veiled chameleon, and some select snake species (no giants though).

I'm guessing an eight foot boa counts as a giant...

Re: Adult Timor Monitor

Hey Chance...
What are you interested in??

And, what are the BRB's like?

How long have you had the timor?  What's she/he eating?

Re: Adult Timor Monitor

Hey Jason (I think that's you). I'm looking for female hognoses, leopard gecko groups (1.3-1.4 or so), maybe a few other things.

The hypo male BRB is not very friendly, but he's still somewhat young so he'll probably become a bit more placid as he matures, especially if he's handled. He's currently around 3-3.5' in length. The female is around 5' and she's nice. She's more orange than red. I figure they're worth about $7-800 as a pair, but I'd put a value of $600 on them.

I've had the Timor since early last summer. She's a good animal, not particularly friendly but she doesn't bite, poop, or tail whip - she's just flighty. She prefers f/t rodents but will eat crickets as well.

Hmm, my e-mail is najak82@hotmail.com. I think that's the one connected to this forum but I could be wrong. Shoot me an e-mail or give me a call this evening and we can discuss more specifics.
