Topic: Two Questions

Hey guys, it's Snake-Boy. I know I haven't been on for a LONG time, but I have questions! first off, how would I identify my corn snake as male or female WITHOUT probing it, and second, when is the next meeting of the CAHS? Thank you!

This varies by species, takes some practice, and isn't nearly as reliable as probing, but a male's tail will stay thick behind the cloaca before tapering and the tail will be longer.  A female's tail will taper almost immediately behind the cloaca and the tail will be shorter.

This is posted on the CAHS page and also on the site calendar.

Re: Two Questions

Henry, take a picture of the tail (being sure to have from above the vent all the way to the tip of the tail in focus) and we'll be able to help you. I've bred a lot of corns, kings, gophers, and garters, and it's pretty easy to tell once you see enough of them.
