Topic: Rainy Day Herping

Today I had some free time so I thought I would go for a little walk. Being as cloudy an cool as it was today, I didn't expect to find a whole lot, but I needed the fresh air anyway. For only two and a half hours of looking, I was able to find and photograph two three-toed box turtles, a fence lizard, a broadhead skink, juvenile midland water snake, and a beauty garter snake. I was very happy. It was a nice day just to get out an relax. So far, my list of this years finds are:
3 Midland Water Snakes + one juvenile
  4 Three-toed Box Turtles
  5 Midland Brown Snakes
  7 Fence Lizards
  2 Broadhead Skinks
  3 Five-lined Skinks
  1 Ribbon Snake
  1 Garter Snake
  1 Prarie Ringneck Snake
  1 Juvenile Western Rat Snake
and a whole stack of Frogs!
Thats it so far but so far so good. No venomous yet but the season has just begun!

Re: Rainy Day Herping

Not bad at all for a rainy day... I've done worse on a sunny day.
Do you keep a log of what you find, or is it all off the top of your head?

Re: Rainy Day Herping

I generally keep a log. Since I photograph, I can recall what I had found and where. I made myself a small notebook to write down my information.
